WCS currently offers:
NEWS FLASH: WCS is excited to announce the addition of three new spring sports - Golf, Tennis and Baseball, and one new fall sport, Cross-Country beginning with the 2010-2011 school year. We invite you to come and experience all that WCS has to offer!
Football
At WCS, we offer Junior High and Varsity football. We play six-man football, which is a much faster-paced game than traditional 11-man. As a result, it is crucial that each athlete commits himself to be in the best shape possible so he can excel on the field and endure through challenges that may confront him at any time during the game. At WCS we strive to teach the connection between athletic principles and spirituality in which one must always be prepared to take on the challenges life presents and endure through the trials of life.
Scripture Reference: Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12
Volleyball
At WCS, we offer Junior High and Varsity volleyball for our young ladies. In order to be successful in the game of volleyball, teamwork and communication are critical. At WCS we understand the same holds true to life, and therefore we strive to teach all our athletes to build strong Christian relationships with one another. This includes both building each other up and relying on each other to get through the trials of life.
Scripture Reference: Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Basketball
At WCS, we offer both boys and girls basketball at the Junior High and Varsity levels. More than any other game, the game of basketball requires skills that must be practiced repeatedly, and only with time and effort can these skills become automatic. At WCS, we strive to connect this game with the spiritual lives of our athletes by teaching them that it takes the same time and practice in their spiritual lives to skillfully navigate through life.
Scripture Reference: I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in His grace until His task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns. Philippians 1:6
Track and Field
At WCS, we offer both boys and girls track at the Junior High and Varsity Levels. Track is a sport that requires both speed and endurance, and in order to achieve success on the track an athlete must be willing to push him/herself beyond what they think they are capable of. At WCS we strive to connect these principles to our athletes spiritual lives by teaching them that with the power of Christ all things are possible.
Scripture Reference: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Cheerleading
At WCS, the cheerleader squad is expected to be more than leaders of cheers; they will be leaders and representatives of the school and of Christ in the classroom and at WCS events. The purpose of the squad is to promote and uphold school spirit, develop a sense of good sportsmanship among students and to better relationships between schools during athletic events.
