Coach Davenport, 29, has served Hirschi High School as Varsity Linebackers Coach.  He has taught for five years, and is certified for all Social Studies subjects and Special Education.

In his new role at WCS, Coach Davenport will serve as the school’s AD, with responsibility for overall supervision and coordination of all Stars’ sports.  He will also be the head coach for WCS High School Football, Basketball and Track teams.

“Kyle is experienced, talented and passionate about athletics, and what makes those qualities even better was his desire to teach and lead students for success beyond the playing field — from a Christian perspective,” said WCS Superintendant,  Karla Wallce.   Coach Davenport earned his degree in History, with a minor in Accounting, from Midwestern State University.

“I believe that hard work, enthusiasm, and love for the game are the three key ingredients for success on and off the field,”  Coach Davenport said.  “I do my best to live life and coach according to Proverbs 3: 5-6 – ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.’”

Davenport’s talents, abilities and interests go far beyond sports and school.  He is a member at First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, where he teaches Sunday school, serves on the Welcome Committee, and is actively involved in the Life Group for young adults.

Kyle’s wife, Jennifer, is also actively involved with him at First Baptist.  Like Kyle, she also will be joining the staff at WCS this fall – teaching preschool.  Jennifer graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Development and Family Studies, emphasis on Early Childhood, and a minor in Counseling.   Kyle and Jennifer have two children, Kylie and Adelynn.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead a program that has tremendous potential because of the support from administration, parents, and boosters,” Coach Davenport said.  “It is also a great opportunity to be able to have a platform in which I can teach character building, hard work, and sportsmanship from a Biblical perspective.  I am convinced that God wants to bless WCS because of the faithfulness of the people behind the school, and to me that is a wonderful thing to be a part of.”

That excitement is building all around WCS.  “We could not be more encouraged about the future for WCS Athletics with Coach Davenport at the helm,” Mrs. Wallace said.  “Please join me in welcoming Kyle, Jennifer, and their children to the WCS family.”
